Section – 29. Prohibition of overlapping shifts
(1) Work shall not be carried on in any establishment by means of a shift system arranged in such a way that more than one relay of workers is engaged in the same kind of work at the same time.
(2) The appropriate Government, or with its approval, the Chief Inspector-cum-Facilitator, may by a written order and for recorded reasons, grant exemption to any establishment, class of establishments, department, section, or category of workers from the provisions of sub-section (1), subject to such conditions as may be considered appropriate:
Provided that this sub-section shall not apply to mines.
