Section – 27. Extra wages for overtime.
There shall be paid wages at twice the ordinary rate for overtime work where a worker works in an establishment or class of establishments for more than the prescribed hours of work in a day or in a week, as notified by the appropriate Government. The overtime period shall be calculated on a daily or weekly basis, whichever is more beneficial to the worker:
Provided that a worker shall be required to work overtime only with his consent:
Provided further that the appropriate Government may prescribe the maximum number of overtime hours.
