Section – 26. Weekly and compensatory holidays.

(1) No worker shall be allowed to work in an establishment for more than six days in any one week:

Provided that in a motor transport undertaking, an employer may, to prevent disruption of services, require a worker to work on a weekly holiday, provided that the worker does not work for more than ten consecutive days without a full day’s holiday.

(2) The appropriate Government may, by notification, exempt certain workers from the provisions of sub-section (1), subject to prescribed conditions.

(3) Where, due to any exemption granted under this Code, a worker is deprived of weekly holidays, he shall be granted compensatory holidays of equal number within the same month or within the following two months.
